Install and get started

This guide describes the planned customer installation. Neither operating-system package is available for customer download yet. The 14-day trial starts on first launch of a configured customer build: no account, no card.

Launch status

Omni Monitor is preparing for launch on both macOS and Windows. Customer downloads and purchases are not open yet. This page has no installer download links.

Contact support@omni-monitor.com with questions. The planned $69 USD one-time Founding License covers two supported devices.

1 · Install the app after release

macOS

Apple silicon Macs

Customer package pending release validation.

  1. Download the macOS .zip and double-click it to unzip (Safari may already have unzipped it).
  2. Drag Omni-Monitor into Applications.
  3. Open it from Applications. Founding builds run on Apple silicon (M1 or later) only.
Windows

Windows 10 and 11 (64-bit)

Customer package pending release validation.

  1. Download the Windows installer and run it.
  2. If WebView2 is missing, the installer downloads it from Microsoft; keep the PC online during setup.
  3. Open Omni-Monitor from the Start menu.
If macOS blocks the first launch

The development Mac packet is ad-hoc signed and not notarized. Customer signing and the exact security prompts still need release validation. Follow these steps only for a future verified release whose published instructions match the download: macOS may say it cannot verify Omni-Monitor. Choose Done (not Move to Trash), then open System Settings → Privacy & Security, find the message about Omni-Monitor near the bottom and choose Open Anyway. The button appears only after you have tried to open the app once. If macOS says the app is damaged, stop and contact support.

If Windows shows SmartScreen

Customer installer signing and security prompts still need Windows release validation. If the published release is unsigned, Windows may show “Windows protected your PC”. Choose More info → Run anyway. If you'd rather not, email support and we'll walk you through it.

2 · Route your first API call

Point any SDK, agent or script at Omni's local proxy. Your key stays on your machine and goes only to the provider you call. Spend limits and the kill switch apply to traffic sent through the proxy.

client = OpenAI(base_url="http://localhost:8000/proxy/openai/v1")

client.chat.completions.create(
    model="<supported model ID>",
    messages=[{"role": "user", "content": "Hello"}],
    max_tokens=1000, # an output ceiling: required while a hard cap is on
    service_tier="default", # OpenAI only: Standard pricing, so the cost can be bounded
)
When a hard cap is on

Omni only forwards a request if it can prove its worst-case cost fits in what's left. So with a cap enabled, give every request an output ceiling (max_tokens / max_output_tokens), and for OpenAI send service_tier="default". A request without them is refused with a clear explanation before it reaches the provider, so nothing is charged. With the budget off, requests pass through unchanged and are still metered.

Other providers use the same pattern with their name, for example /proxy/anthropic/. Calls you send directly to a provider are not seen or limited by Omni.

3 · Optional: the browser companion

The browser companion shows which model you're on and your usage in ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini. Omni's API metering, limits and kill switch work without it.

During the founding release it installs manually in Chrome or Edge: open chrome://extensions, turn on Developer mode, unzip the Omni extension .zip provided with the release, choose Load unpacked and select the unzipped folder (the one containing manifest.json). Keep that folder where it is; Chrome loads the extension from it. If you used an earlier Omni extension, remove it first and install the one from this release; an older copy may be refused or show outdated behavior. Browser usage is estimated and always labeled that way.

4 · Activate your license

  1. After purchases open, buy the Founding License during or after the trial. Polar provides the license key through its customer portal and purchase email; contact support if it does not arrive.
  2. In Omni, click the license badge at the top of the window, paste the key and choose Activate.
  3. To move to another device, use Move license to another machine first, then activate there. Each license covers 2 devices.

Once activated, your license keeps working offline. See license, refund and update terms.

5 · If something goes wrong

Support: support@omni-monitor.com. Founding customers reach the developer directly.
